Laminitis and severe hoof deformation are among the most frightening situations a horse owner can face.
Many owners receive conflicting advice and are left wondering what is actually happening inside the hoof.
If you are facing a difficult hoof situation, I can evaluate the case remotely based on photographs, radiographs, and video.
This is not general advice.
Each case is analyzed individually based on hoof mechanics and the physical structures inside the hoof capsule.
When This Service Is Most Helpful
This evaluation is especially suitable when:
• Your horse has been diagnosed with laminitis or founder
• Radiographs suggest coffin bone rotation
• The horse suddenly became lame, and the cause is unclear
• The hooves have become deformed or stretched forward
• Previous treatments have not solved the problem
• You are facing difficult decisions and want a mechanical explanation
How it works
- Email photographs and radiographs of one hoof to pictures@equinehooves.com
- I want at least three pictures: 1 front, 1 side and 1 bottom. More pictures of the same hoof will not cost you more.
- The front view picture must be taken from straight in front of the hoof with the camera standing on the floor, at least 2 feet (50cm) from the hoof.
- The side view picture must be taken from straight out of the middle of the hoof with the camera standing on the floor, at least 2 feet (50cm) from the hoof.
- One sole photograph must be taken flat against the surface, but I’d like one from a slightly different angle, too.
- Make sure the hoof is clean and well-lit, but not trimmed.
- The better picture you send, the better evaluation you will get.
- When I have received the pictures, I’ll tell you if they show something I can help you with.
- If you send me pictures, you also give me the right to use them anonymously for educational purposes.
What You Will Receive
If I feel that I can help you, I’ll prepare a PDF that you can buy for $20.
The PDF will include:
• A mechanical explanation of what is happening inside the hoof
• I will draw lines and markings on the pictures and explain what is wrong, what would be right, and how to get there.
• Identification of likely sources of pain
• Practical guidance on immediate priorities
• Warnings about common mistakes that worsen the condition
The goal is to help you understand the situation clearly, so decisions can be made with confidence.
If there is anything in the PDF that you don’t understand, just ask.
